Vietnam War-Era Nurses and Doctors Join Forces To Help 2020 Medical Caregivers Battle Covid-19

It’s one of the most uplifting and inspiring stories about America’s Vietnam War veterans that you’re likely to read this year . . . or any other year.

The bottom line: a remarkably patriotic group of former nurses and doctors who served as medical caregivers during the 1960s and 1970s conflict in Southeast Asia recently formed a national organization designed to help win another war — the war against the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Their goal: to share their experiences as caregivers in Vietnam with the frontline medical staffers who are risking their lives daily in the battle against the deadly virus.

To read more about this incredibly moving story and how you might be able to help, just click on the Vietnam Veterans of American website at:  https://vva.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Press-Release-20-04-2-1.pdf.

What Was It Like to Come Under Fire for the First Time during Vietnam War?

In honor of America’s Vietnam War veterans on Memorial Day 2020, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs has launched a series of dramatic videos in which combat veterans remember their experiences in battle.

For Army Ranger Oscar Lee Torbet III, the first taste of combat was a terrifying experience. But it also taught him the most valuable lesson he learned during the war: before all else, a leader must do everything he can to protect the lives of the soldiers under his command.

In this video, Torbet tells the unforgettable story of how his Army Ranger training helped him maintain his composure and rise to the challenge while enduring the stress of combat for the first time.
